Doctoral Consortium
Due to the general lack of interest in the event, the Doctoral Consortium is canceled and will not be held during the ADBIS 2010 conference.
The ADBIS 2010 Doctoral Consortium will be organized in the form of a workshop that addresses PhD students who have already identified a dissertation topic and are reasonably far advanced in their work, but not yet close to finishing their thesis. We aim at providing attendees with a welcoming atmosphere to present their research, to receive useful feedback from well known professors and researchers, and to exchange ideas and experiences with PhD students from other countries. At the same time, participants of the PhD event will have the opportunity to attend sessions of the ADBIS conference and to meet more experienced colleagues from other parts of the world in an environment where it is easy to establish personal contact.
PhD students carrying out research in the field of databases and information systems are invited to submit an extended abstract describing their current work for the PhD workshop. The paper length must not exceed 6 pages. The papers should be formatted according to the general formatting rules for ADBIS 2010. The PhD Doctoral Consortium contributions will be reviewed by a small program committee headed by 2 members of the ADBIS Steering Committee.
Accepted papers will be presented during the ADBIS 2010 conference in special PhD sessions. Per paper, there will be at least 20 minutes for presentation and 10 minutes for discussion. Contributions will be published in an additional volume of proceedings published by the local organizers. In addition, they will be accessible on the internet via the conference webpage.
PhD workshop papers should be well-structured and should clearly specify:
- the organization where the student is doing his/her work including name of supervisor
- the problem(s) that the proposed research is going to solve, and the motivation for addressing them
- the aims and objectives of the proposed research
- the research approach to be followed, including a brief description of the results achieved so far and a tentative plan for future work
- the main contribution(s) of the research to topics of ADBIS.
Each PhD workshop paper has to be authored by a single student.
Procedure
- All Doctoral Consortium (DC) submissions will be reviewed by at least two DC Program Committee (PC) members.
- Authors of accepted papers will be invited to submit camera ready versions of their papers, where they have taken into consideration the DC PC feedback.
- Each camera ready paper will be reviewed by assigned DC PC member who will serve as a discussant of the paper at the DC session.
Papers will be published only if the student attends the conference.
Please, submit your contributions in PDF format via email by
